JPMorgan has hired David Fishman away from Bank of America to become vice chair and head of technology mergers and acquisitions for North America, according to a memo confirming the move. The hire adds a well known dealmaker to JPMorgan's push to build out its technology banking franchise.

Fishman spent more than fifteen years at Bank of America, where he most recently co led the bank's technology, media and telecommunications M and A practice. Earlier in his career there he also served as chief strategy officer for the investment bank, giving him experience beyond deal execution in how the firm set its broader strategy.

At JPMorgan, Fishman will also sit on a newly formed technology M and A leadership and advisory council created to serve the firm's most important clients in the sector. He will report to Chris Grose and Greg Mendelson, who co head JPMorgan's technology investment banking group, as well as Charlie Bouckaert, the bank's global head of M and A.

The move reunites Fishman with Kevin Brunner, a former Bank of America colleague who joined JPMorgan last year as global chair of investment banking and M and A. JPMorgan is also expanding the role of Vineet Seth, who will become a vice chair of investment banking and take a senior seat on the same technology M and A council Fishman is joining.

The hire is the latest sign of how aggressively large banks are competing for senior technology dealmakers, as AI driven consolidation and a wave of large software and hardware transactions have made technology one of the busiest and most closely watched sectors in investment banking.
