Nscale, a London based operator of data centers built for artificial intelligence workloads, is preparing a US initial public offering that could raise as much as 3 billion dollars, according to people familiar with the matter. The listing could arrive as soon as September, and the company is working with Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan on the deal.

Nscale is currently developing data center capacity in Norway and West Virginia, part of a broader buildout aimed at leasing processing power to companies training and running AI models. The company has told potential investors it holds 51 billion dollars in total contracted revenue, a figure meant to demonstrate long term demand for the capacity it is building.

The IPO follows a Series C funding round in March that raised 2 billion dollars and valued Nscale at 14.6 billion dollars, meaning a successful listing at the range being discussed would mark a substantial jump in the company's valuation in a matter of months. That kind of rapid re rating has become common among AI infrastructure companies as investor appetite for the sector has intensified.

Nscale is part of a broader group of AI data center operators racing to build out capacity, an effort that requires tens of billions of dollars in spending on chips, power infrastructure and physical buildings before that capacity can be leased out. Public markets have increasingly become a source of the capital needed to fund that buildout, rather than relying solely on venture rounds or private credit.

A US listing would give Nscale a public currency to keep funding its expansion and would test how public investors price a company whose value rests heavily on long term contracted revenue rather than current profitability, a dynamic playing out across much of the AI infrastructure sector as more of these companies look to go public.
